What happens when a 1916 sufragista wakes up in 2016, meeting three other young women who go to college, run for office, and (god forbid) wear shorts? When a woman running for mayor is confronted by a woman fighting for her right to vote, they discover they have more to learn than each of them thought. Share a laugh about pregnancy tests, internet trolls, and existential dread, while leaving with a sense of renewed hope that better times are possible.
In 1916, newly widowed Jane seeks to expand the women's suffrage movement to Spanish-speaking communities, but faces resistance from first-wave white feminism. Meanwhile, she's running low on funds to pay her maid (and only friend) Raquel, who's just discovered Jane could be pregnant. When Jane wakes up 100 years in her future, she meets feminist studies major Valeria and social media pro Izzy, who drag her along to a political rally for their friend Jovita, the youngest-ever candidate for mayor in their town. When Jane's outdated comments cause controversy at the rally, friendships rupture and Jane's morning sickness only gets worse. Can the four prepare for Jovita's big debate AND find a way to get Jane home? Or will she choose to stay...?
