SHOW SYNOPSIS & details
as submitted by the artist(s)
Instant Opera was born out of my love for improv comedy and singing opera. I love doing both, and thought, “Why not combine the two?”
I trained as a classical singer at the Cleveland Institute of Music, in improv at the Annoyance Theater in Chicago, and now here we are!
Now, ahem, an Official Bio:
Liz Huff (she/her) does concert work, theater, and collaborative arts projects throughout the Midwest and places as far-flung as Estonia, Northern Ireland, and Finland. She appeared at Micro Theater Cle’s November 2024 production in her one-woman improvised show Instant Opera, in Cleveland Play House’s Amadeus as Teresa Salieri, and BorderLight Fringe Festival 2023, singing the Narrator in Obediya Jones-Darrell’s opera Fairy in The Lake. She has sung with the Cleveland Pops at Severance Hall, and headlined holiday concerts at Nighttown. An advocate for new work in theater and music, Liz has premiered numerous works by Ryan Charles Ramer and other composers, and by playwrights at Ensemble Theatre, Cain Park, and Cleveland Public Theatre. Past local credits include Mrs. Nordstrom in A Little Night Music, Signora Naccarelli in Lakeland’s The Light in The Piazza. She is a member of The Greenhouse (Ohio-based theatre makers), and a voting member of the Recording Academy. For more info, go to lizhuff.net.
Many thanks to Frank Jaroneski, Dan Postotnik, and Jeremy Frank for helping me bring this show to life! Additional thanks to Micro Theater CLE for encouraging me to take this show out for its first go round!
