Sincerely, (The Diary Play) weaves together hundreds of diary entries and adolescent archives to form a coming-of-age story through the lens of cultural contradictions.
Bryanna is waiting for her “special” to be discovered. As a relentlessly curious child, she chronicles her life through lists, poems, songs, secrets, and questions– probing everything from “Can dogs understand humans?” to “Am I too Asian or not Asian enough?”. While navigating newfound romantic feelings, disconnection from her Filipino roots, and the weight of purity and worthiness in the eyes of her Catholic upbringing, Bryanna grapples with colliding narratives between the story she is trying to tell and the one that others impose upon her.
Bryanna’s story is an unfiltered, honest, and deeply relatable journey that balances humor with vulnerability. Derived entirely from fifteen years of home video footage, hundreds of diary entries, high school papers, religious pamphlets, text messages, doctor’s notes, and private social media conversations with no new writing introduced to the script, Sincerely, (The Diary Play) transports audiences back to the uncertainty of growing up through the raw musings of a child.
Audience Reactions:
“No performance has ever resonated with me as deeply as this one. Bryanna really hit the nail on the head and drove it further and further as the show progressed. The show was an emotional rollercoaster as her thoughts and feelings were brought back to life, and as audience members we were just along for the ride. It's truly inspiring to see how she transformed those experiences into a powerfully moving story that is both personal and relatable. I'm still trying to process what all I felt just watching the show. Thank you for the laughs, tears, and encouragement to do some of my own reflection on those chapters of life.”
“Truly excellent work in all areas. The script was sharp, funny, and emotionally real. The acting was absolutely brilliant. Bryanna brought us along so skillfully. The empathy in the room was palpable.“
“To have text that’s so vulnerable, and then to have it interwoven with theatrical elements that bring out that vulnerability... I thought that was incredibly effective.”
“The concept of no new dialogue added was incredible, and the storytelling with only two actors was wonderful.”
“There's so much truth and connection for everyone. You explore every part of human emotion. The highs, the lows... It's about life, I think. It’s a microcosm of everyone's life.”

SHOW REVIEWS
Excellent work!
This was funny and moving and very well performed/written.
Do not miss!
Marvelous company, tight, well-crafted production, heartfelt, humorous and heartbreaking.
So real. So revealing!
This is an inside for every parent and adult who works with young people as to what goes on inside the head of a teenager.
Moving, heartfelt drama
Bryanna Lee really touched my heart with her story of growing up as a first generation American. Her emotional conflict of wanting to be a good Catholic and developing sexual feelings. Her first friendship was with her Filipino Grandmother. As a teen she came to understand of the personal sacrifice her grandmother made coming to the United States leaving everything that was familiar so that her family could have a better future, when she stood up for the national anthem with her hand over her heart and tears streaming down her face at a game. The pride she felt being an American. It was a real and tender coming of age tale. It was amazing how much drama was done with two actors on a small stage. Terrific writing, performances and directing. Kudos to Jude Libner the co-star for an outstanding performance.
