SHOW SYNOPSIS & details
as submitted by the artist(s)
Closed Loop of Consanguinity is a visceral dance-theater piece exploring the physicality of the bow in its multitude of expressions. Drawing from the forms of physical theater and contact improvisation, performers play with the edges of intimacy with various manifestations of the divine. Improvisational in structure and rooted in movement research, the work considers a few questions: To whom or what do we bow? What do we look up to? Or down upon? How does this manifest in our bodies and relationships with one another? The performers move through these questions by embodying expressions of power, surrender, devotion, dominance, and right relationship.
The Closed Loop is intended to stir the collective psychic field of all who are present– performers and audience. Your imagination, projections, and felt sense of belonging in the complex web of relation is invited.
