Portrait of MATTMATT is a one-person variety show by Ohio poet and musician MATTMATT RAYBEAM. He fuses original music, comedy, and live improvisation into a high-energy, genre-blurring performance about identity, persona, and becoming.
The show asks a simple question: who is MATTMATT? A poet? A musician? A comedian? Or something more elusive—a new cultural archetype emerging in real time? In this intimate 60-minute journey, MATTMATT RAYBEAM invites audiences into a world of music, storytelling, and self-examination that is as entertaining as it is revealing.
Featuring original songs from his forthcoming debut album, the performance unfolds in three immersive acts: I Am A Boy from the Internet, Portrait of a Poet, and Notes from MATTMATT’s iPhone. Each explores love, family, fashion, literature, and spirituality through a lens that is both deeply personal and sharply observant.
Playful, vulnerable, and unpredictably funny, MATTMATT blurs the line between performer and persona. The result is a dynamic theatrical experience that feels both confessional and communal—holding up a mirror to the artist and the audience alike. Come curious. Leave seen.
