The International Plaza

International Plaza is a BorderLight initiative that features live cultural performances on Playhouse Square Plaza in a shared, outdoor public setting.

Performances will occur during the BorderLight Festival window July 8-11, 2026. Specific dates and time slots will be confirmed with participating groups.

Performance lengths may range from short pop-up sets (as brief as 10 minutes) to full performances of up to 60 minutes.

• All groups must indicate their expected performance length in advance

• Performers are expected to start and end on time to allow smooth transitions

Performances take place outdoors on Playhouse Square Plaza.

The plaza includes a built-in half-moon stage that may be used:

• Stage dimensions: 45 ft wide (back edge), 15 ft deep (centerline)

• Power is available at the stage

Groups may also perform in other plaza areas as long as:

• Pedestrian pathways remain open

• Entrances and exits are not blocked

• Festival staff may request adjustments for safety or flow

Capacity depends on the type of performance. The stage comfortably supports small to mid-sized groups, but spacing should account for movement, safety, and equipment. Groups should plan accordingly and note any special spatial needs when expressing interest.

A small A/V sound cart may be available by advance reservation only.

• Performers are strongly encouraged to bring their own sound equipment when possible

• Performers are responsible for operating all equipment

Sound cart includes:

• One battery-powered speaker

• One wired microphone with stand

• Input for playback device

• Mixer not yet confirmed; all additional equipment must be supplied by performers

• A designated loading zone will be available for active load-in and load-out only

• Vehicles may not remain parked in the loading zone without approval

• Secure storage is not provided

• Performers should keep valuables with them at all times

Yes. All performances must:

• Be family-friendly and appropriate for an all-ages public audience

• Maintain reasonable volume levels

• Be adaptable to an outdoor setting with ambient noise and foot traffic

Festival staff reserves the right to pause or relocate a performance if needed for safety, access, or crowd flow.

No. Performers are not paid by BorderLight. Artists may independently choose to accept voluntary audience tips.
