Tango Unleashed: A Community Jam

A community of music and music for the community! Tango as a dance and genre of song has been around for about a century now, surviving political extinction and changes in technology and favor. The lasting image of roses and fishnets has obscured the fact that tango is alive and well as a dance and culture. We’re even seeing a renaissance of live tango music in dance clubs and concert halls around the world.

Please join us for a look at the grassroots side of making art with others and pick up a packet of music to follow along! The songs are grouped into sets of 3-4 tango tunes with different genres inbetween for a chance to clear the palate and move about. What we’ve been doing at the Cleveland Tango School is using those cortinas (“curtain” calls) to showcase some of the wealth of local talent from Cleveland’s music scene. So take a moment today to check out what it looks like to set up for an evening of dancing and relaxing to the sounds of your friends and neighbors making music.

The CTS Community Orchestra is a project that provides opportunities for anyone to learn or return to the practice of making music. We love tango as a framework because it’s interesting enough to keep you listening but accessible enough to learn from no experience!
