SYNOPSIS
Charles Ignatius Sancho - born on a slave ship on the Atlantic Ocean in 1729, he became a writer, composer, shopkeeper and respected ‘man of letters’ in 18th century London - the first man of African Heritage to vote in Britain.
SANCHO&ME - FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY is an unmissable storytelling by Paterson Joseph, a well-known British actor, accompanied by co-creator and musical director Ben Park and delivered directly to the audience and built around Paterson’s recent novel THE SECRET DIARIES OF CHARLES IGNATIUS SANCHO. Paterson explores ideas of belonging, language, education, slavery, commerce, violence, politics, music, love and where these themes intersect with Paterson's own story of growing up Black and British.
AN ACCLAIMED, NOT TO BE MISSED, PERFORMANCE!!
In addition to being an award-winning novelist, Paterson Joseph is known for his work in television and film (most recently Wonka), and for leading roles with the RSC and in the West End.
Reviews from "Sancho: An Act of Remembrance":
"A joy to experience. Paterson Joseph’s Sancho, who delights in breaking the fourth wall, is overflowing with charisma, and sometimes it’s hard to tell if it’s Joseph or Sancho who has the audience wrapped around one finger." - Playstosee.com
**** (4 stars) - Whatsonstage.com
"Hurry before he's gone. Highly recommended" - ChicagoCritic.com
